This professional engineering and technical degree could be used in the medical field with mature technology, principles, and methods of biological, physical, chemical and technical sciences. This major is cross-disciplinary in the research and development of human health materials, medical instruments, electronic equipment and systems, computer technology, and information processing technology.

Students would be well-grounded in the basic knowledge of the natural world and humans and cultivated not only in mathematics, physics, chemistry, electronics and information technology, and computer technology theory, but also in biological and medical basics.

Graduates of this major are mainly engaged in technical work related to biomedical engineering, after graduation after several years of practical work and independent learning, in Biomedical Engineering related fields of high-tech industry departments, medical engineering departments, scientific research departments engaged in biomedical signal detection and information processing, image information processing and analysis, scientific research, teaching, design, manufacturing and technical management related to software or hardware development, medical instrument development and maintenance. Graduates of this major have a good foundation in mathematics and physics, and can continue to study for "Biomedical Engineering" first-level disciplines and other related disciplines of graduate students, or overseas to carry out related fields of further study.

毕业去向:本专业毕业学生主要从事与生物医学工程相关的技术工作,毕业后经过几年的实际工作和自主学习,能够在生物医学工程相关领域的高新技术产业部门、医学工程部门、科研部门等从事生物医学信号检测及信息处理、图像信息处理及分析、医学工程相关软件或硬件开发、医疗仪器开发及维护等方面的科学研究、教学、设计、制造和技术管理等工作。本专业毕业生具有良好的数学、物理学基础,可以继续攻读“生物医学工程”一级学科及其他相关学科的研究生,或者到海外进行相关领域的深造。
