Biotechnology is based on the life sciences. Combined with engineering principles. It uses biological systems, designed and built for the expected nature of the new species or new line, to solve production and practical problems in biological, pharmaceutical, and environmental fields.

This program covers life sciences from many sub-disciplines, disciplines with cross-penetration from the chemical, pharmaceutical, engineering, mathematics, microelectronics, and computer science disciplines. It is based on biological theory, systematic study of the basic theoretical knowledge of life sciences, basic experimental skills and basic engineering design principles.

Graduates of this major can be engaged in basic knowledge and basic ability of scientific research, new technology and new product research and development in the field of life science and biotechnology, and can undertake scientific research, teaching, design, manufacturing and technical management in biochemical analysis and detection, cell biology, genetic engineering, neurobiology and other fields. The employment fields of graduates of this major include general colleges and universities (teaching, teaching aids, etc.), environmental protection, hospitals, food and drug management departments, pharmaceutical, functional food, cosmetics and other enterprises (R&D, production and management departments). Graduates with a good foundation in biology, chemistry and mathematics, you can continue to pursue postgraduate studies in "Biology", "Pharmacy", "Chemistry", "Bioengineering" and "Biomedical Engineering", or further study in related fields overseas.

毕业去向:本专业毕业的学生可从事生命科学及生物技术领域的科学研究、新技术新产品研发等工作的基础知识和基本能力,可以承担生化分析与检测、细胞生物学、基因工程、神经生物学等领域的科学研究、教学、设计、制造和技术管理工作,。本专业毕业学生就业领域包括普通高校(教学、教辅等)、环保、医院及食品、药品等管理部门、药品、功能食品、化妆品等企业(的研发、生产及管理等部门)。有良好的生物学、化学及数学基础,可以继续攻读“生物学”、“药学”、“化学”、 “生物工程”以及“生物医学工程”等学科的研究生,或者到海外进行相关领域的深造。
