2023 Beijing Institute of Technology Chinese Government Scholarship “High-Level Graduate” Program

1. Program Description

Chinese Government Scholarship “High-Level Graduate” Program is a full scholarship program by China's Ministry of Education to some of China's top universities for the direct selection and admission of outstanding international students to study in China.

Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is one of the host institutions of the program and is responsible for recruiting high-level international students with excellent academic background, professional abilities, and future development potential to study for master's and doctoral degrees.

Duration of Study:

Master's programs: 2 year (up to 2.5 years)

Ph.D. programs: 4 years (up to 6 years)


3. Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

1. be non-Chinese citizens and in good health both mentally and physically, and will observe the Chinese laws and the regulations, and the rules and regulations of Beijing Institute of Technology;

2. be an academically excellent holder of a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 35 when applying for a master’s program;

3. be an academically excellent holder of a master’s degree or its equivalent under the age of 40 when applying for a Ph.D. program;

4. hold an HSK certificate (minimum of level 5) for Chinese-taught programs; have a minimum score of 85 in TOEFL or 6.0 overall band in IELTS for English-taught programs (English native speakers are exempted). Or to provide other language certificates recognized by BIT;

5. have at least 1-year related working or internship experience for MBA program.


4. Coverage of the Scholarship

1. Tuition fees;

2. Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy;

3. Stipend:

Master’s students: CNY 3,000 /month,

Doctoral students: CNY 3,500/month;

4. Comprehensive medical insurance: CNY 800/person/year.


5. Application Deadline

February 15, 2023

6. Application Procedure

1. The applicant submit application at the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn). For more details, please refer to Attachment 2 - Instructions for Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (CGSIS)

2. The applicant submit application at the BIT International Student Service System (http://apply.isc.bit.edu.cn). For details, please refer to: https://isc.bit.edu.cn/admissionsaid/financialaid/scholarships/b112920.htm

3. Based on the results of a comprehensive review, BIT selects the best applicants and recommends scholarship candidates to the China Scholarship Council.

4. After the China Scholarship Council announced the admission results, BIT will inform the applicants of the results and send admission documents.

2. The Photocopy of Passport (photo page and China visa page)

3. The Certified/Notarized Copy of highest Degree's Diploma/ Certificate of Schooling (in Chinese or English)

4. The Certified/Notarized Copy of Academic Transcripts (undergraduate level and above, if any, in Chinese or English)

5. Curriculum Vitae

6. Personal Statement & Study Plan

7. Two Recommendation Letters by professors or associate professors

8. Recommendation Form for International Student by BIT Advisors

9. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner

10. Proof of Language Proficiency

11. Non-criminal Record

12. Other Supporting Documents (e.g., papers/patent/certificates, etc.)
