Dear international students:
As accidents and injuries are frequently occurred recently on university campuses initiated by illicit motorcycles and electric-motorcycles, the Traffic Safety Committee of Higher Education in Haidian District and the Campus Security Department of BIT will be taking intensive actions to prohibit illegal motorcycles and electric motorcycles.
The International Student Center requires all students not to buy or to ride a motorcycle or an illicit electric motorcycle. Those who already have a motorcycle or an illicit electric motorcycle must dispose of it and don't drive it again.
Please be aware that not all kind of electric bicycles are allowed to run on the road in Beijing. When buying an electric bicycle, choose only among those that are listed in the Electric Bicycle Catalog published by Beijing Motor Vehicle Administration. An electric bicycle must be registered to the traffic administration department.
Here are some examples that are categorized as electric bicycles and are allowed to run in Beijing:
Electric bicycles. You can buy and ride.
Following examples are classified as electric motorcycles and are not allowed to drive in Beijing.
Electric motorcycles. Do not buy and drive.
When driving an electric bicycle, please control the speed to avoid accidents and don't carry any other person.
