>Visa Types

X visa: Study visa, suitable for foreigners who come to study in China for more then six months. Usually this is applied for by submitting Form JW201 or JW202, as well as the Admission notice, to the Chinese embassy or consulate in the foreigner's country.
X visa holders must apply for a foreigner Residence Permits within 30 days of entering China;

F visa: Visiting visa, suitable for students who plan to study in China for six months or less. This visa can be applied for by submitting Form JW202 or JW201, as well as the Admission Notice, to the Chinese embassy or consulate in the foreigner's country. The F visa duration of validity begins when the foreigner enters China. It can be extended, but the longest stay possible for a foreigner with an F visa is one year.

Individuals with other types of visa may not be allowed to register as a student.

> Residence Permits

Those who enter china with x visas must apply for Foreigner Residence Permits within 30 days of entering China.

The following documents are needed for Residence Permits application:

Visa and Residence Permits Application Form, prepared by ISC of BIT.
Certification of Verification for Physical Examination Record^*1issued by China's Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine.

RMB400 for one year residence permit
extra 60RMB if your would like to submit your application through Trader-Link, an authorized agency.
*1, To get the Certification of Verification for Physical Examination Record, please go in person on an empty stomach to Beijing International Travel Healthcare Center with your passport, JW202, and the original form of your Physical Examination Record. You may be asked to take some examinations again. Those who have not taken health examination in home country must have physical examination at Beijing International Travel Healthcare Center.
*2, International students who live off campus in private houses or flats are kindly reminded to go to the local police station to report and register temporary accommodation within 24 hours of arrival.

You may choose to entrust your visa application affairs Trader-Link, an authorized agent to provide Visa application service. If you prefer to submit your application by yourself, the International Student Center will prepare a Residence Permit Application Form for you, which usually take 2 work days.

With the Residence Permit Application Form and all the documents above mentioned, please go in person to:

The residence permit application fee, RMB400 for one year duration, will be paid at the time you retrieve your passport and Residence Permit.
